What is Squamous cell carcinoma?
It is the most common type of cervical cancer which can be detected in 80-90 % of cases. It develops in cervix lining especially from exocervix cells.
What is Adenocarcinoma?
Adenocarcinomas are the type of cervical cancers which originate from glandular cells. This type of cervical cancer occurs in cervical mucus-forming gland cells. Approximately 10-20% of cervical cancers are adenocarcinomas.
What is Mixed carcinoma?
Cervical cancers which have features of both squamous cell carcinomas and adenocarcinomas are called as mixed sarcomas which occurs less common.
What are other types of cervical cancer?
In rare instances other cervical cancer types such as melanoma, sarcoma, neuroendocrine, and lymphoma are found in the cervix.
