Whether you have completed leukemia treatment or are still being treated, your doctors would still want to watch you closely. Therefore, as part of follow-up care you may have to undergo a series of exams and tests so as to reduce the risk of leukemia coming back.
Even after the treatment ends, you’ll still need frequent follow-up exams and blood tests, for at least several years. It’s very important to go for your follow-up appointments. Your doctor may even look for signs of leukemia or treatment side effects.
If your blood cancer comes back, you will have to undergo diagnosis and treatment as before.
