How do you recover post uterine cancer treatment?
Once treated for uterine cancer, your recovery post uterine cancer depends on a couple of factors, such as your age, general health and the type of surgery that you had.
However, most women feel better within 1–2 weeks and are able to return to their normal activities after 4–8 weeks.
But sometimes for complete recovery and to lead a quality of life women may also need palliative treatment or supportive care that helps in relieving pain and managing other symptoms.
What is uterine cancer follow-up care?
Generally, uterine cancer follow-up care includes regular physical examination and medical tests. Surgeons want to keep track of your recovery in the months and years ahead. In addition to a physical examination with a pelvic examination, follow-up care may also include blood tests and x-rays.
Tell your surgeon about any new symptoms, especially a loss of appetite, bladder or bowel changes, pain, vaginal bleeding, chronic cough, pain in the pelvic area, or weight changes. These symptoms may be signs of cancer recurrence or that the cancer has come back.
Cancer rehabilitation may also be recommended to help women regain control over many aspects of their lives and remain as independent and productive as possible.
