What are the precautionary measures taken to prevent all renal & biliary duct cancers?
In the case of biliary duct cancers, there’s no known way to prevent it as most of the risk factors associated with bile duct cancer, such as age and bile duct abnormalities, etc., are beyond our control. But certain lifestyle changes, such as staying at a healthy weight, remaining physically active, avoiding sugar drinks, etc., can help to lower the risk.
Other ways to reduce the risk of bile duct cancer includes:
- Get vaccinated against the hepatitis B virus
- Take precautions to avoid blood-borne or sexually transmitted infections
- Avoid or limit your alcohol intake
- Quit smoking
Whereas, in case of gallrenal cancer, removing the gallbladders of people with gallstones might prevent the risk of these cancers.
