Skin cancer develops when the skin cells divide and grow out of control. The common types of skin cancer include melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and non-melanoma skin cancer.
The condition is usually caused due to prolonged exposure to solar radiation. However, the other risk factors include a compromised immune system, family and personal history of skin cancer, and exposure to toxic substances.
