Overview

Bone marrow is present in the core of long bones and produces white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Bone marrow transplant involves transplanting healthy bone marrow from the patient’s own body or from a matched donor’s and replace it with the diseased or damaged bone marrow.

The conditions that are treated through bone marrow transplant include many hemato-oncological conditions like acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), myeloma, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, and aplastic anemia.
