Surgical oncology involves the treatment of various types of cancer through surgical intervention. In most early-stage cancer, it is the only treatment option possible. Sometimes surgery may be used in combination with other treatment modalities such as radiation therapy or chemotherapy. With the advancements in technology and the availability of novel techniques, surgical interventions for cancer are safer and have relatively lesser complications.
