Squamous cell carcinoma may occur anywhere on the skin; however, it is commonly seen at the areas exposed to sun, such as the back of the hands, scalp, lips, and ears. Some of the symptoms of squamous cell carcinoma include:
- A nodule, which is red and firm
- Scaly, rough patch on the lips that progresses to open, sore
- The raised area developed on an old scar
- A new sore
- Rough patch or red sore inside the oral cavity
- Changing, new, or unusual skin growths
