The common tests performed for diagnosis of lymphoma are:

  • Blood tests: Blood tests determine the level of different blood cells. The low level of white blood cells and platelets may indicate lymphoma.
  • Spinal tap: During this procedure, the surgeon removes the spinal fluid with the help of a needle to check for lymphoma.
  • Lymph node biopsy: A part of or an entire lymph node Is removed from the suspected area to look for lymphoma cells and their type.
  • Bone marrow aspiration: A sample of liquid or tissue is obtained from bone marrow to look for the lymphoma cells and their extent of spread into the bone marrow.
  • Imaging tests: Imaging tests such as ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emissions tomography (PET) scan helps to check for abnormally enlarged lymph nodes and to produce detailed images of the suspected organs and soft tissue.
  • Body CT scan: It detects enlarged lymph nodes and abnormalities in the pelvis, chest, abdomen, head, and neck.
