Survivors of oral cancer are at increased risk of oral cancer recurrence and the development of new cancers, such as head and neck cancers. Thus, the survivors need to undergo follow-up examinations at the pre-specified time. The follow-up visit not only helps in the early diagnosis of recurrent cancer but also ensures appropriate treatment to manage the long-term side effects of cancer therapy. Survivors should not ignore any symptoms and consult the doctor immediately. The survivor may expect a comprehensive oral examination, panendoscopy, or imaging tests during the follow-up visit.
