Stage 1 :
In this stage, the level of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), albumin (>3.5 gm/dL), and Beta-2 macroglobulin (B2M) (<3.5 mg/L) are normal or closer to the normal range. It is easy to cure if detected in this early stage.
Stage 2 :
It is the advanced stage of multiple myeloma. In this stage, the level of B2M is higher (>5.5 mg/L). In this stage, the lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) level is high, and patients have high-risk cytogenetics.
Stage 3 :
This stage is characterized by the level of B2M between 3.5 and 5.5 mg/L with any level of albumin, OR the level of B2M is <3.5 mg/L, and the level of albumin is <3.5 gm/dL. The lactate dehydrogenase level is normal, and the patient has low-risk cytogenetics.
