The doctor will provide the follow-up care schedule for esophageal cancer survivors at the time of discharge. The follow-up visit is usually every 3-6 months during the first couple of years and every 6 to 12 months after that. It is important not to miss any of the follow-up care visits. The survivor may expect physical examination, imaging tests, and laboratory tests are the time of follow-up care. Any symptoms of concern should be immediately put on the notice of the doctor, irrespective of the date of the scheduled follow-up visit.
