Risk Factors

Certain factors increase the risk of ear cancer. These include:

• Chronic ear infections
• Smoking
• Secondhand smoking
• History of radiation exposure
• Prolonged exposure to the sun
• Ear piercings
• Recurrent exposure to low-temperature water, such as during scuba diving
